Inner Peace Society is our global effort to reach out into the world to ease suffering. Currently, we have begun work in Bihar, India, to provide medical care, clean water and education to those unable to afford these basic necessities of life. Our vision is to give individuals the tools and resources they need to lift themselves out of poverty and hopelessness, including the most powerful tool of harnessing the power of the mind to cultivate optimism for a better future.
Inner Peace Buddhist Center established a Prison Dharma program in 2014.
Since 2014, we continue to train and support volunteers facilitating Buddhist study and meditation groups inside jails and prisons. Our aspiration is to lift the lamp of Dharma among our incarcerated brothers and sisters to help break the chains of ignorance, violence, hopelessness and fear.
Typically, an average IPPD volunteer attends a 2-hour on-site inmate group twice each month, leading meditation and moderating discussion of a book or topic of study.
